Bella's Business Blog

Have you ever stopped to consider just how many different businesses there are in your local town or city? If you take the time to look, you will notice that there are businesses of every kind, from little businesses which serve a few local customers to medium-sized companies which cater to the tourist and large multinationals who are trading on a global scale. However, the one thing each of these businesses will have in common is the fact that they are managed by someone who has a creative spark and a business brain. I'm not a businesswoman, but I have spent the last 7 months visiting various companies in my city so I could understand what made them successful and what made them fail. I have learnt from the best, so I hope you like my blog.

Three Principal Precautions for Using Your Neodymium Magnets

If you are looking for powerful rare earth magnets for use in your workshop, you should opt for neodymium magnets. These magnets are the most powerful ones found on the general commercial market. Their exceptional magnetism facilitates the handling of heavy loads, making them a great fit for clamping and positioning items in the workshop. However, you should note that strong magnets can pose significant safety risks in the workplace, and they can cause damage to your property. Therefore, if you have just acquired neodymium products, consider using the outlined tips to prevent accidents.

Inspect the Workspace

You should assess your workspace before taking out your magnet for use. This is crucial because the attractive force of the products can pull other magnetic pieces in the surroundings towards them. If the pieces slam together suddenly, injuries could occur. For instance, someone holding the magnet might have their fingers caught between two tough objects. Also, the magnetism could attract sharp objects like knives and scissors, which could cause significant cuts. Therefore, you must make sure that there are no hazards in the workplace before beginning your operations.

Use Protective Gear

The right safety gear is crucial when working with neodymium magnets. In general, taking precautions by clearing your workspace can minimise the risks. However, small oversights can still lead to accidents and injuries. Therefore, it is advisable to wear thick work gloves to minimise damage to your fingers in case of impact. Also, shield your eyes with goggles to prevent injury by metal splinters or filings in the workshop. Additionally, consider using coveralls to minimise skin contact between you and the magnets. This is beneficial because the nickel in the rare earth magnet could trigger an allergic reaction

Protect Your Devices

Neodymium magnets can cause damage to some common items in your workplace. It is important to think about protecting your property when working with these rare earth products to minimise your losses. In general, you should keep items which are sensitive magnetic fields away from your workshop. For instance, computers and hard drives will sustain significant damage after exposure to strong magnetism. Also, audio accessories such as speakers and hearing aids are disrupted by the field. Other sensitive items include ATM cards, mechanical watches and pacemakers.

Finally, you should ensure that that your rare earth magnets are stored properly when not in use. This will minimise harmful effects on the surroundings. It is advisable to consult your specialist supplier on the correct placement of your neodymium products to prevent mishaps.
